There are several types of Poker Rakeback deals on the Internet today, but the most common is known as "Contributed Rakeback". In this article, we'll describe for you Contributed Rakeback and its advantagess for certain types of poker players.
Contributed Rakeback is a typical online poker rakeback deal where players receive a percentage of the rake they actually contribute to the pot back into their account. This rakeback deal is particularly beneficial for loose and/or aggressive poker players who tend to contribute more chips to the pot than their competitors.
For example, let's say you're playing online poker at a 6-seater table, and you open with a $5 bet. Three opponents call. The Flop comes down. Now, you bet $20, two players Fold and the other Calls. Then on the Turn, you bet another $20, but the last player Folds. The pot reach $60 before the hand ended (the last $20 bet won't count since no one called).
You contributed $25 total to that pot, where three other players contrubted $35 combined. We calculate that to find that you contributed 41% of the overall rake.
The standard rake is 5% of the pot, capped at $3, the total rake is $3.00 (5% of $60 = $3).
Since you contributed 41% of the rake, your rakeback will come from 41% of the rake. 41% of $3 is $1.25.
The standard poker rakeback is 30%, so you would receive 30% of the $1.25 you contributed to the rake. 30% of $1.25 is $.375, rounded up to $0.38.
In this scenario, because you are receive Contributed Rakeback, you would receive $0.38 in rakeback for the single hand. As an aggressive bettor who contributes the most to the pot, this is an excellent rakeback deal.
In this same hand scenario, were your taking advantage of a Shared Rakeback program, you would have received less. With four players contributing to the rake, you would receive rakeback according to 1/4th of the rake.
3 / 4 = .75
30% of 0.75 is 0.225 (rounded up to $0.23)
In this scenario, because you used a Contributed Rakeback deal, you got $0.15 more rakeback for a single hand than a Shared Rakeback would have delivered.
